Yesterday, while driving home from work, I saw a small green convertible being driven by a white-haired middle-aged gentleman. The car had a personalized license plate. Do you know what it read? No, of course you don’t, because I haven’t told you yet. Well, you might know if you live around here and had seen this car. The personalized license plate said “DEAD”.
I thought that was kind of cool. It sure made me wonder, and that’s what a good personalized license plate should do. So was the driver a ghost? Was he maybe just Dead Inside? Was the car a really old one that had been resurrected? Maybe he had some kind of death wish (he was driving a bit slow, which filled me with Road Rage) and wanted everyone to know he was essentially dead already. Maybe “Dead” is the new “Pimped Out” or “Pwned”.
Or maybe… just maybe… it was Death on vacation in human form, and the DMV wouldn’t let him use “Death”, so “Dead” was as close as he could get.
Pet Peeve Of The Day: Too much damn TV! That new Reaper show was pretty good. I suppose I’ll have to keep watching it. (Look out, link has automatically playing video/audio. Which, come to think of it, is another Pet Peeve.) The Reaper guy should have a “DEAD” license plate on his car.
P.S. Also saw a bumper sticker today: Dog Is My Co-Pilot. Pilto was with me at the time and didn’t get it. He was like “Why would you want to say your dog is driving? That’s not very funny.” I had to explain it to him, and then he thought it was funny. Ha ha, my friends are hella-dumb!
Latre.

The “Dog Is My Co-Pilot” sticker originated with Bark magazine, based right here in Berkeley.

I’m thinking that “Dead” referred to The Grateful Dead. Surely - in the hippy-dippy bastion of patchouli that is Colorado - you’ve heard of them?

Reaper was okay. I kept looking for Jack Black to be playing the sidekick.

Tyler Labine does tend to play the Jack Black role in whatever he does…
