Your post about television inspired me to write a post about television. I 've been managing a few posts a week, if I were to try to maintain daily posting I would have to resort to politics a lot more often than I do.

I haven't found any info on the strike issues that isn't slanted to the point of propaganda, but we have lots of friends in the guild and don't know any producers so if I felt like choosing sides it wouldn't be a tough decision.
I'm told the big rallies can be a lot of fun, not to mention good schmoozing opportunities. That said, my sources really aren't the sorts to take such issues seriously - at least not yet - and it's still early days for everyone.
Unfortunately I suspect both sides are gonna be unpleasantly surprised by how long this will drag on. The entertainment market is too big and diverse now for either side to really apply a damaging amount of leverage to its opponent without slitting its own throat. I'm sure both realize that already, and this is just a political (psychological) struggle rather than something genuinely fueled by contractual disagreements.

(Next week: my analysis of the mideast situation, subtitled "Why don't they just TALK to each other?")
