The Browser, Reloaded

Yesterday, following DMR’s advice, I downloaded and installed a new browser: Mozilla Firefox. I like it so much that I’ve made it my default, replacing Internet Explorer. Those of you who are having trouble viewing my site using your old versions of Netscape (you know who you are) should definitely download and install Firefox. It’s easy to install and it works well right off the bat. There is both a Windows and Mac version. It’s got some great features that IE doesn’t have, such as built-in popup ad blocking. And my favorite feture: tabbed browsing. I don’t want to go into a long explanation of that – you just have to play with it a little bit and it becomes obvious how much easier it makes general browsing. You can have lots of pages open and easily switch between them without having a bunch of browser windows open.

Let’s see – what else is going on? I made an appointment with a body shop to get my car repaired. It’s going in around July 12th and they’ll have it for three weeks or so, during which time I’ll have to drive a rental car (which the insurance company mostly pays for). What a hassle.

I’ve been spending a lot of my time cataloging my CDs in Music Collector, which is a very dangerous thing for an anal-retentive person such as myself. I found that my old DOS-based database and the MS Access database (both of which I wrote) just aren’t cutting it any more. And I’m tired of entering my CDs into all three databases. Music Collector is robust enough to be the only one I need. But it’s going to take a long time to put my approx 4000 CDs into it, especially since I’ve become obsessed with entering as much info about them as I can. For example, I’ve taken to scanning in the CD covers if the program is unable to find one to download from somewhere. I figure at the rate I’m going, it’s probably going to take me a year or so to get them all in. I’m almost done with the “P”s (don’t ask me why I started there – I don’t remember).

Ah, it’s so nice to not have a life. Latre.
