Where Has Flasshe Gone?

Flasshe was in the Bay Area for a few days, visiting his friend Hobie and Hobie’s masters, as well as other good friends. I had a terrific time and got to see two great live performances each from Statuesque and the Loud Scott Miller Family and one from Anton Barbeau. Statuesque’s Stephen Manning is a nice British bloke and fun to chat with. He came all the way from London to San Francisco just to perform a couple of shows and promote his new album. I saw Beach Blanket Babylon, which, um, had really big hats. I ate a lot of good food (as Sue alludes to in her blog) and gained a few pounds, though they are coming off pretty fast. Or they would’ve if I didn’t get an insane craving for a supersized Arby’s lunch today. Thanks to Sue and Joe for keeping me entertained and taxiing me around. My soul is now fortified for another year. Hearing good live music and hanging out with like-minded people will do that for you.

Oh, and here’s a little mini-rant. Why are showerheads in hotel rooms always so low? How are you supposed to wash your (non-pubic) hair if you’re not a munchkin? I was pleasantly surprised that the Hotel Nikko, where I stayed for the first two nights in the Bay Area, actually had a showerhead tall enough for me (I’m 5′9″, but it would’ve accommodated much taller people as well). It was so refreshing. And somewhat surprising in a Japanese-owned/influenced hotel. Okay, that was maybe a bit un-diverse of me…

Latre.

First: by definition, any craving for Arby’s is insane. Also: "maybe a bit un-diverse" – I’m sure glad you put that hyphen in there, because the "undiverse" is I suppose an alternate universe in which everyone wears only underwear. Oh sure, you say – that could be sexy…but not when you’re thinking of Michael Moore.
