Revisionism

Your eyes are not playing tricks on you. I’ve closed some entries and edited others. I have my reasons.

Last weekend, I watched the 2.5 hour Empire of Dreams documentary on the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set. Strangely enough, there was no real negative stuff about George Lucas or the prequel trilogy on it. Imagine that! At least Lucas wasn’t totally diefied either.

I learned some interesting things:
Carrie Fisher got the Princess Leia part on the priviso that she go to a fat farm and lose 10 pounds.
Kurt Russell would’ve made a terrible Han Solo.
On the first day of Star Wars filming in Tunisia, they had the first major rainstorm in the Sahara in 50 years, which kinda messed things up.
On the first day of Empire Strikes Back filming in Norway, they had the worst snowstorm there in 50 years, which kinda messed things up. Don’t let these people film in your town!
Lucas’ friends, including some directors (Coppola, DePalma, etc.) did not like his first pre-effects cut of Star Wars. The studio, however, did.
Star Wars was apparently the first movie to have the credits at the end instead of the beginning. They got away with it that time, but had to pay a fine to the Motion Picture Guild or whoever when they did it again with Empire Strikes Back. My, how times change.

And so much more! That I can’t remember right now…

Latre.

That Jessica Alba pic was drawing in too many hits, wasn’t it? I apologize for the 2,387,456 times a day that I felt compelled to look at it. Now the Rog Nation suffers because of my selfish action…

Not that this has anything to do with Star Wars, but having just spent a few days back in Denver this week, holy cow are you guys getting dumped on with political ads! California must not be a contested state or something – I see bumper stickers but few yard signs and pretty much no commercials on TV.

It’s almost as if someone thinks it actually matters which dweeb gets elected. It’s Kang vs. Kodos, 1996 all over again! Wake up, people!

Yeah, but we’ve got way more sushi restaurants than you guys do.
