Who’s Running The Show?

So I did finish God of War a few nights ago, but now I want to play through it again on a harder difficultly level. Though I don’t think I’m quite ready for the now-unlocked God Mode yet. I tried that and it kicked my you-know-what. So, anyway, I’d still rather fight than blog, I guess.

A few days after I saw Layer Cake (as I discussed in this entry), it was revealed that Matthew Vaughn is not going to direct X-Men 3 after all. He bowed out for “personal reasons”. So who did they get to replace him? Brett Ratner. Ugh. I’m sorry, but the guy’s just a smidgen above “hack”. I still prefer the original Manhunter to Ratner’s remake Red Dragon. There’s goes the X-franchise. I’m hoping for the best but am expecting the worst. It looks like Batman Begins, which is getting great reviews, is probably going to be pretty successful. So things are switching around again and now DC will have it over Marvel in the comic book movie competition. Especially if Fantastic Four sucks, which I’d say is quite probable, based on the previews and the advance buzz.

The weirdest thing to me about this whole Ratner/X-Men 3 situation is that he was at one time attached to direct the new Superman Returns movie (as was McG at another point). And the reason Bryan Singer is not directing X-Men 3 is because he is now directing that Superman movie instead. So the two of them kind of switched projects. Hollywood is strange. DC and Superman definitely got the better part of the deal on that one.

But in the sad DC movie news category, it appears that the Watchmen adaptation is dead. Too bad. It looked like it was really going to happen this time, and like it might’ve been a decent adaptation. Oh well.

Latre.

Maybe if V for Vendetta does well, it will spark renewed interest in Watchmen. I’ve always been a little more excited about that one anyway, since I think it will be a lot easier to do a good job of adapting it.

I read V For Vendetta but was not totally blown away. It was okay. I agree it would be much easier to adapt than Watchmen!

Don’t know if you ever read Defamer.com, but they have a pretty hilarious vendetta against Brett Ratner going on:

Sue, I love Defamer, and Gofugyourself, both of which I’ve been following on your recommendation. For a more Hong Kong and International dose of Gofugyourself style snark, I also enjoy Give me spirit fingers dammit!!
