War of the Dozes

I kind of lost count of how many times I started to nod off during Mr. & Mrs. Smith, so I’m not really sure what the Nod-O-Meter rating is (something like five, I suspect). It’s not that it was a bad movie, and I certainly didn’t get bored watching Angelina Jolie, but I’ve just really been tired this weekend (see the Morpheus post and comments for more on my sleep issues) and that factored too heavily into the movie watching experience. But I think the main problem was that there was just too much darn action/gunfights and not enough character moments. I found the story of the relationship between these two people (and how they rediscovered it) to be far more interesting than the never-ending action sequences. Plus it would’ve helped if the villains actually had like faces or motives or something instead of being mindless shooting drones or voices from a computer. Really made it hard to put things in perspective. The plot (what there was of it) didn’t make a whole lot of sense. Things just seemed to happen (and people just seemed to say random things) for no particular reason. I have a feeling a lot of stuff ended up on the editing room floor (or I guess that would be in the editing hard disk these days). Wait for rental.

Latre.
