Everything Ends

[Spoiler-free entry here] So, tonight was the series finale of Six Feet Under, a series I’ve been watching since the beginning. I’ve stuck with it through the years, even though I thought it really got off-track the last couple of seasons. This season started off pretty bad, but got better as it went on. The last few episodes have been as good as anything from the first few seasons, and the series finale was really effective. It was a good decision to pretty much base the episode around the character of Claire, as she’s the one who still has her whole life ahead of her, and she’s kind of gotten short-shrift in the past. Lauren Ambrose really stepped up to the plate and did a great job with a wide variety of emotional scenes.

The last 10 minutes or so were so moving that (don’t tell anyone) I actually bawled like a baby. Haven’t done that in awhile. I’m glad the show ended when it did and went out on a high note. I was worried there for awhile. Fisher family, here’s to you!

Everyone knows the new New Pornographers album, Twin Cinema, is coming out this week, right? Best Buy even had it in its Sunday circular. Strange, since I don’t remember them even carrying the previous two albums. Looks like the band is breaking through to the mainstream. Or at least has a lot of buzz.

Latre.

I haven’t watched SFU yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I hadn’t known the NP album was coming out this week, but I’ve been saving some EMusic downloads for a rainy day this month, and Matador usually releases stuff there right away.

I prefer not to waste my eMusic downloads on something I know I’m going to buy. So I’ll be hitting the CD aisles on Tuesday…
