Welcome to FlasshePoint

Distance, Redefined is now FlasshePoint. New name, new domain, new host, new design, same crappy content. Please update your bookmarks.

The new RSS feed urls are http://www.flasshe.com/?feed=rss2 (entries) and http://www.flasshe.com/?feed=comments-rss2 (comments).

I fully expect there to be some broke things on this site – please let me know if you find any. I will also probably be making some changes over the next few days that may break things.

Why did I make this change? I dunno. Mainly I wanted to separate the blog out from the Reign of Frogs band website and use my own domain. And I thought it was just time for a change.

Latre.

Great! I finally get an RSS reader, and you change the URL the next day! Hmmpphh! Oh well, then.

Think of it as a test of your new software…

First! Oh wait: wrong site, wrong number. Anyway: I like it. New image…but did you use the same Photoshop filter (or whatever app) on it?

Thanks! I did put together the image using Photoshop, with a variety of effects and filters. I took the original candle flame picture myself.

Great move! There’s no telling what might happen to Reign of Frogs in the distant future, but you can keep “flasshe.com” for the rest of your life. Actually, even though it’s not a word, I’m kind of amazed you were able to get “flasshe.com”. It seems like nearly everything is already taken.

Assuming you get E-mail with your new host, you should do what I do. Everytime someone (like a business or other organization) asks for your E-mail address, give them a personalized E-mail address. Example: You buy something from “widgets.com” and they want your address, you give it as “widgets@flasshe.com”. That way 1) you know who’s selling your address when you get spam and 2) it’s easy to block spam from particular people. And you ought to switch your main E-mail address to the new domain as soon as you can. It’s only going to get more difficult when you eventually leave TDE. My two cents.

Point taken, but it would be hard for me to give up the TDE address. I know it’s not going to be around forever, but I keep hoping. Besides, “flasshe.com” is one of those addresses that you have to laboriously spell out for everyone. (BTW, it’s not exactly a made-up word. It means “flask” in German or Olde English or something.) It’s also kind of laborious using a different prefix for every transaction, and making sure that the mailbox is set up right to handle it.

This is just phase one of the move. Phase two involves moving reignoffrogs.com to a (way) less expensive host, but that doesn’t really concern anyone except we in the band. That should happen soon. I have some other ideas too.

You kidding? Why even mess around with Flashee when “[YourName].com” shows as available? You know what I went through to get MY dot-com (since there are at least 3 better-known people with the same name) – get yours now before it’s gone!

BTW I can recommend a good web host AND a good registrar (if you need any advice, which you probably do not).

I really don’t want to use my named domain, although I may grab it so that no one else can.

I’ve been meaning to say, I love the new look! Am behind many days and more entries, it seems, because I kept looking for an update via my RSS reader. Doy.

Looks like I have quite a few entries to catch up on — not that that’s a negative, mind you. Look for more inane comments TK (that’s editor-talk for “to come”).

    Thanks, Amy!

    Shouldn’t that be “TC”…?
