Stairs On A Plain

One more Snakes On A Plane observation before the big opening. I’m currently reading the book Bangkok Tattoo by John Burdett, which reminds me of when I read it’s prequel Bangkook 8 a few months ago on my trip to North Carolina. Bangkok 8 could very well have been called “Snakes in a Car”, as it is an exotic mystery about a US Marine sargent in Thailand who is murdered when he is trapped in a car full of hopped-up pythons and cobras. Sure, the whole snakes thing happens at the beginning and is mostly used to get the story started, but it is the central event of the book. The snakes also kill the best friend/partner of the book’s hero, Thai Royal Police detective Sonchai Jitpleecheep, setting him forth on his quest to solve the mystery of who put the snakes in the car and why they were so aggressive. I can’t help wondering if the SoaP filmmakers got any ideas from that book…

Latre.
