Synchronicity I, II or III?

Okay, so this morning I was, as usual, watching my DVRed-from-last-night recordings of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report while doing my post-run stretches and breakfast preparation. At one point, while getting up from the stretches, I was flailing around and accidentally hit a button on the remote control that I didn’t mean to hit. Usually when that happens, it’s a channel change, which causes the recording to stop playing and the DVR to go back to live TV. This time that didn’t happen. There was some hoo-hah on the screen (program information displayed etc), but it kept right on showing The Colbert Report. I did have to rewind a few seconds because I missed some info in the confusion (Colbert was going on about Beliefnet and Atheists In Foxholes).

So then I started making breakfast and I got to the first commercial break in TCR. I fast-forwarded, but it only advanced a few seconds and then said “Live TV”. I was all like “WTF?”. It was like it wasn’t letting me FF any further in the recording.

Then I noticed that I really was watching Live TV, and the channel was set to Comedy Central (which is strange, because that’s not the channel I was watching before viewing the recordings) and it was showing last night’s episode of The Colbert Report, at the exact same time/point I was watching the recorded version. So I had really hit a channel change button on the remote. Bizarre. I didn’t realize they were showing TDS and TCR reruns every morning at the same time that I watch the recordings. I went back to the recording and did a Resume, and watched the rest of the episode commercial free.

Gosh, my life is weird.

Latre.
