6 Unusual Things Before Breakfast

Posted on | February 1, 2007 at 12:04 am | 4 Comments

Good buddy 2fs has tagged me with this Internet game:

Each player of this game starts with “6 weird things about you”. Each person who gets tagged needs to write a blog post of their own 6 weird things as well as clearly state this rule. After you state your 6 weird things, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you’re tagged” in their comments and tell them to read your blog for information as to what it means.

As have said others, so sayeth I: “just six”? I’ve already written about some of these in past entries, and I’m sure a quick perusal of the archives will bring up many more. But here’s what I came up with for this go-round.

1. The most unusual thing about me is probably my fear of buttons, which I wrote about recently. Thank you for your understanding, Internet Community.

2. When I put eye drops in my eyes, I need to open my mouth wide in order to open my eyes wide.

3. It wasn’t until I was in my 40s that I realized the written word “Voilà !” and people saying (what I heard as) “Wah La!” were the same thing. Whenever I saw the word written down, my mind always transposed the second and third letters, and so I wondered why people in books were screaming about a stringed musical instrument when they were presenting something. Not even the thingee over the “a” was a tip-off.

4. There are a lot of classic movies I’ve never seen that everyone else apparently has, such as Rocky (or its sequels), It’s A Wonderful Life and Annie Hall.

5. I have food allergies that affect me in bizarre ways. Fish oil pills make my right eye “sticky”. Certain fruits (pineapples, melons, some berries) make painful bumps appear on my tongue.

6. I tend to do food rotations in threes. I’ve already written about how I do this with breakfast cereals. Another example is when my co-workers and I go to the local Thai restaurant for lunch every Thursday, I rotate between my three favorite dishes (Garlic Pepper Chicken, Pad Se Lew, and Kow Pad Thai Style).

Some may consider my habit of grooming (shaving, brushing, flossing) outside of the bathroom/mirror as unusual but, really, doesn’t everyone do that? It’s a time-saving measure. I like to get two or more things done at once, so if I can shave and read e-mail at the same time, or brush my teeth and watch TV, I feel like I’ve pulled something over on The Universe.

I’m running out of bloggers I know who haven’t been tagged with this yet, so I’m tagging the four remaining: John, Fahey, Tim, and Lisa (whom I hope sees this, since you can’t leave comments on her blog).

Latre.

My love for Kabaddi is not something to be spoken of lightly in a public forum. Discussion of my preperation rituals alone would probably make most right-thinking people wince.
