Wii Bowl-Ohh’s

Posted on | March 18, 2007 at 10:36 pm | 8 Comments

I finally got a chance to play with a Nintendo Wii this weekend. N and I were babysitting my niece and nephews on Saturday night so my sister and bro-in-law could have a night out, and they’ve got a Wii. I watched my nephew play a bit of Zelda, which looked very cool, and then we did some bowling from the Wii Sports disc included with the machine. Wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect with the motion sensitive controller – it still seemed like a gimmick to me – but it turned out to be very responsive. It’s pretty fun to play a bowling video game and have the controller actually act like the ball (you have to be careful not to fling it like a real ball though). It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but once I did, I cleaned up. Got four strikes in a row at one point and won the game. I think I bowled like a 165. Much better than I do with real bowling. N started out strong and did better in the beginning than I did, but then something happened and she started to lose it just as I was getting it. I felt really good about beating both my nephews, who have had a lot more practice at it. Maybe I’ll have to get one of these things. Seems like it would be really fun for parties and family events. I didn’t have time to try any of the other sports games, but I bet they’re fun too.

And it’s so cute how you can make your own little “Mii” avatars and make them resemble yourself. Although my nephew kept trying to give my Mii a double chin. Not cool!

Latre.

I’m sure your nephew left your Mii alone after you went home.

I think this is my favorite post title yet.

I totally don’t get the post title. I mean, “Wii” I get. “Bowl” I get. But what’s the “Ohh’s” part? “We bowl O’s”? Or more like zeroes – like gutter balls? I am a confused one.

I smell a commie rat. Who won the world series in 1776?

The Boston Red…uh, not coats anyway.

I’d forgotten all about the crypto-fascist, gay-hating organization founded by a closet case! Dearie me…

Wii bowling is real fun, but I’m no better at it than I am at real bowling.

Yeah, I can’t figure out why I’m so much better at Wii bowling than real bowling. Especially since I’m really out of practice on video games lately.
