Denver Kwik-E-Mart

You may have heard that twelve 7-11 stores around the world have been transformed into Kwik-E-Marts for the month of July in order to promote the upcoming Simpsons Movie. Fortunately for me, the one in Denver is just a couple of blocks from where I work. I stopped in there yesterday after work to buy some Buzz Cola and take some pictures. I wasn’t the only one. The place was packed!

I’ve made a Flickr set of my photos from the “event”.

Latre.

The funny part for us is, before the publicity for this hit we actually drove past one of these and thought “hey look, someone’s made a Kwik-E-Mart out of a former 7-11…haw haw” without really giving it a second thought.

Oh yeah, and does anyone else remember the chain of convenience stores from the 70s, probably just local or regional but it was before 7-11 bought out everyone and became universal – they were called Kwik Shops?

That is ingenious and fun. Do they have Duff Beer?

Oops, looks like JeFF already made the Duff joke on his globbe. Oh well.

I think there was some legal problem with selling Duff Beer…

Out here in the sticks, there is actually a convenience store named (I kid you not) “Shop-A-Mint”. They don’t actually seem to sell mints. But they do sell booze. I can’t figure out whether the owners just don’t know how to spell “minute”, or if they just didn’t have enough letters for the sign.

I frequently stop at that one to get my morning coffee. What I thought was interesting is that while their gas prices are always a little higher than average, this morning it was 26 cents higher for mid-grade than the other 7-11 I pass on the way to work!
