Hey Stan, What About Duct Tape Pants Man?

It’s probably not in good taste (or good karma) to make fun of homeless people, but damn, there was this guy that N and I saw at Taco Bell the other night that just invites comment. I wish I had thought to at least take a cell phone photo of the guy, but it totally slipped my mind. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t, since who knows how violent he might’ve gotten if he saw someone was taking a picture of him. But really, I’m not totally sure he was homeless or just making an odd fashion statement, but there was a shopping cart filled with junk near him, and that’s usually a telltale sign. And he was Tourette-edly spouting a stream of obscenities to no one in particular, though he may’ve been actually wearing a Bluetooth headset and arguing with a friend over a cell phone. It was hard to tell. He could afford to eat at Taco Bell, so apparently he wasn’t that bad off. Oh wait, I forgot… even these days you can get a complete meal at Taco Bell for practically nothing but a cute smile.

Not that this dude had a cute smile…

Anyway, the man was pretty young (early 20s) with long black hair. It looked like he had large headphones on his head, and was wearing some kind of scarf over the headphones to keep them in place. I’m pretty sure he must’ve been receiving some sort of signal through the headphones, but I shudder to think what it was. His most outstanding feature was that his pants seemed to be made of duct tape. Well, not entirely. There were bits of fabric poking through here and there, but the duct tape was really the focus of the ensemble. I actually didn’t even notice at first, until N pointed it out to me. I was too focused on the headphone/scarf issue.

I’m still thinking there’s a chance it might’ve been a performance art thing. Really wish I had taken that picture.

Pet Peeve Of The Day: I can’t go into detail, but it almost certainly adds up to this being a sleepless night for me. Oh well. At least I have a place to sleep. And pants.

Latre.
