It Was So Windy Last Night…

…that my house is now in Evergreen
…that my internet upload speed was 5% of normal
…that I thought I saw the neighbor’s dog Krypto flying
…that President Bush has come out against “Global Winding”
…that my restless sleep was filled with dreams where I was infiltrating a religious cult in outer space that was headed by The Sopranos (okay, that one was true)
…that Kathy Sabine had a strand of hair out of place during her weather forecast
…that James Dobson started praying to Zeus

In Death Valley, sometimes it gets so windy you wonder whether God is angry, or it’s just the military testing something…

This year wasn’t near as bad as last year, but there was more than a taste of the wilder side of nature.

I got a phone call from my sister-in-law Sunday afternoon, to inform me that we had an earthquake. She had no details, other than the magnitude was “point five”. (she’s not a numbers woman) I found out later that at 8:40 that morning a 5.6 tremor occured in SoCal, which explained the noise which woke me up around then.

    Gotta get out of here.
