Finally heard from the insurance company today. They’re not going to be able to look at my car until a week from today. Apparently there were 15,000 claims from this particular storm. At least the car is drivable with the windows replaced, though the rattling around of the small pieces of glass stuck in the rear hatch/door is really annoying me. Which just means I have to turn the stereo up louder.

Rented 21 Grams and (appropriately) Shattered Glass this weekend and enjoyed both. As far as critically-acclaimed Sean Penn movies go, I thought 21 Grams was much more enjoyable than Mystic River. A little less predictable too, even though because of the non-linear story-telling, there were glimpses of the future. It did take me awhile to get into it, because of all the jumping around in time and quick edits in the first half hour or so, but once it slows down, it draws you in. Naomi Watts remains a favorite of the current breed of youngish actresses.

I thought Shattered Glass was a bit too short and didn’t really get enough into the psychology/background of serial journalistic fibber Stephen Glass, but the unraveling of his deceptions made for an intriguing story. I’m still somewhat divided on Hayden Christopher’s acting abilities, although I will say I would not have recognized him as being the same actor who plays Anakin Skywalker if I didn’t already know. So that must count for something.

Hey wow, wasn’t the season premiere of Six Feet Under the funniest episode ever? I thought they were supposed to lighten up this season…

Tomorrow: The story of the great cereal switcheroo. Maybe.

Latre.
