Everyone’s Doing It

New Year’s Resolutions? We don’t need no stinkin’ New Year’s Resolutions! But here they are anyway.

* Eat less, exercise more, so I can lose more weight, starting with the bucketful I gained over the holidays. I’d like to get down to 140, but I should probably go for a more realistic 145. Since I was at around 150 before the holidays, that shouldn’t be too hard, right?

* Spend less, save more. Should be easy to avoid buying a lot of new DVDs, since I don’t have the room for them anyway. Plus, everything I’d want I already have, right?

* Read more, watch less TV. Yeah, right!

* Learn to speak backwards (sdrawkcab) like Zatanna.

That’s about it. I’m already nearly perfect, so I don’t need to do much.

I was saddened today to read of the passing of comics pioneer Will Eisner. Even though I haven’t read much of his stuff, I do realize how important he was to the medium and what an effect he had on it. Here’s hoping they have pens in heaven, Will.

The company I work for has set up a program/website to allow employees to donate (via credit card) to relief efforts for tsunami victims, and they match every contribution dollar for dollar. I hadn’t yet donated anything and was waiting for that, since I suspected they’d do it (they did the same thing for 9/11). So, I finally made my donation today. It’s good to know that it will be doubled. The company is also donating an extra flat $100,000 up front, and is matching any previous contributions made by employees who send in a receipt. I’m hoping all large companies do this and lots of employees are contributing.

Latre.

140?!? I don’t remember you being that small? I was down to ~185 until I married an expert cook, and have been about 215 since… meanwhile she’s lost more weight than I’ve gained. Go figure.
The watching less TV idea is a good one. You won’t regret it.

In my adult life, I’ve got down to about a minimum of around 130 and up to a maximum of around 170 (maybe 175?). I’m currently hovering around 150-155. I’m pretty short though (5′9″).

And I lied about watching less TV.
