Amazon is currently showing the world premiere of the trailer to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on its home page. As a big fan of the books (I still think the first book is probably the funniest book ever written), I’ve approached the movie news with anticipation but guarded wariness. This trailer does go a long way towards alleviating my anxieties, as do the reviews of the test screenings that have shown up on Ain’t It Cool News. Martin Freeman is definitely the perfect choice to play Arthur Dent, and I’m glad that they got a British director (relatively unexperienced as he is) to direct the movie. Alan Rickman is an inspired choice for the voice of Marvin, as is Stephen Fry for the Guide. It looks like much of Douglas Adams’ vision has made it to the screen intact. Here’s hoping…

In other news, More than 1 in 10 US adults have an iPod. Wow. And 1 in 5 people under 30 have one. That’s got to be some kind of record for adoption of a consumer electronics device. I don’t think even DVD players penetrated that far that quickly.

Latre.
