These Tedious Dances

I’ve found the perfect soundtrack for Valentine’s Day: She Wants Revenge. “She’s pretty and I like her but she’s too well/Cause I need red flags and long nights and she can tell”. Oh yeah. Who hasn’t been there? Most of the songs do start to sound a little bit samey after awhile, but at least it’s a good samey. On the great “Do they sound like Interpol or do they sound like Joy Division” debate, I think I’ll go with Joy Division. A bit peppier Joy Division.

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I recently found out about Zogo, which is “online” dating for people who prefer talking on cell phones to typing on computers. Seems to me it would be a pretty small subset of Internet users who would be into finding matches this way (at least for the initial introductions). Or perhaps I’m just projecting my avowed awkwardness in phone conversations onto the larger Internet mate-seeking community.

If the search function on their splash page in any indication of how well the service in general works, I’m not impressed. When I say that I’m looking for a woman in my general zip code in CO, all the matches it comes up with are outside the state (AZ, CA, MN, etc.). I guess every female in this state already has a match. Or the ones who are left don’t like talking on the phone. Or they just see me coming. Ha ha, I kid – isn’t it Self Deprecation Day?

Love ya! Latre.

What do those lyrics mean exactly? Like she’s too much of a straight-arrow?

I think it means that the guys is too messed up to have a normal relationship. Like attracts like and all that. We want what is bad for us.
