Tree at Dusk
Here we are at Day 2 of National Blog Posting Month, and I’ve already run out of things to say. Ha ha, not really. I’ve actually got a couple of things in reserve, including a topic suggested in an e-mail by commentaur InfK. But I’m going to go with something less meaty for today. It is Friday, after all. (Bad try at a Catholic pun.)

Yesterday was one of those days when not much happened, except for work and the usual routine. Exceptions:

  • It was my nephew’s 10th birthday, and I called to wish him a happy one.
  • I was walking past the cubicle of a new co-worker who has only been on the project for a couple of months, when I noticed a familiar CD sitting on his desk. I did one of those classic doubletakes and walked backwards to check it out. I excitedly tapped him on the shoulder (he had headphones on and was listening to his iPod), pointed at the CD, and exclaimed “Ted Leo! Ted Leo!“. Yes, he had a CD of Shake The Sheets. I couldn’t believe there was someone else at my company, on my own project, who was around my age and had even heard of Ted Leo, much less possessed music by him. I enthused about how StS was one of my favorite CD’s from the last few years, and told him he really needed to listen to Hearts Of Oak.
  • While driving home during one of the worst commutes I’ve had in awhile, I noticed a harried mother driving an SUV in back of me. I watched her in the rearview mirror as we came to a stoplight and I saw that there were kids in the back seat constantly touching her and getting in her face. And what was she doing during this time? Intently driving with her eyes focused on the road while trying to fend off the offspring? No, she was flossing her teeth. Yeargh.

Jogged Today: Yes (@ 45°F, but with a cold, strong wind, especially during the 2nd half of the run. Note: The temp has dropped 7 degrees since I went running.)
Songs That Came Up On The iPod While Jogging:

  • “What Do You Want from Me?” (Monaco)
  • “Summat Outanowt” (The Stranglers)
  • “Excited But Not Enough” (Midlake)
  • “Fiction Romance” (Buzzcocks)
  • “The Girls Want To Be With The Girls (live)” (Talking Heads)
  • “Suffer For Fashion” (Of Montreal)

Today’s Weight: 162 lbs
Lunch Yesterday: Chicken Super Burrito at La Fiesta, along with more chips & salsa than I should’ve consumed.
Pet Peeve of the Day: My local liquor store didn’t have Carta Blanca last night. And to make matters worse, there was some Czechoslovakian beer in the Carta Blanca spot, right above the Carta Blanca tag. What happened to the Carta Blanca? I need my Carta Blanca.

Latre.
