Lights And Statues In The Cold Night

Candy Cane Trees Wow, I can’t believe I’m actually getting out and doing traditional holiday things. Miss N and I attended a private party at the Denver Botanic Gardens tonight. They have a couple of events / exhibits going on right now, the foremost being the awesome Blossoms Of Light: One million lights draped on the trees and bushes. One month of installation time. Very beautiful. It was a very cold night, so it was a little hard to enjoy the long walk to view them all. But worth it.

NSFWThe other exhibit is the stone Chapungu sculptures from Africa. Fifty-seven fascinating statues from a park in Zimbabwe, spread out among the lighted trees. Unfortunately, it was too dark to read the description cards by each sculpture, even with the lights pointed at them. And with it being so cold, we had to keep moving and couldn’t stop much to admire them. Looks like it would be fun to check them out in the daylight. There was a great variety of sculptures, depicting different aspects of life.

Jogged Today: No, still too much snow and ice on the ground.
Today’s Weight: 162.2 lbs
Lunch Yesterday: Hot dog.
Pet Peeve of the Day: Nearly saw a car creamed while I was driving home tonight by another driver running a red light. Very scary!

Company Xmas dinner party tonight. Practically within walking distance of home, but I’m gonna take the tram (light rail) because it’s too damn hot to walk that far…

It’s a small world, they say.

    …but I wouldn’t want to paint it.
