Make Your Own Flasshe Post

Posted on | December 8, 2005 at 6:14 pm | 4 Comments

This morning, when I was drifting back and forth between wakefulness and semi-wakefulness and waiting for the alarm to go off, my mind conjured up an idea for a blog entry that sounded pretty good at the time. In the cold harsh light of day, it doesn’t seem so great. It was going to be one of those implied “Never Mind” entries, with me acting all falsely stupid and confusing The Chronicles of Narnia with the movie The Chronicles of Riddick. I’d be all like What’s this I hear about Riddick being a Christian allegory? and then I’d go into depth about Vin Diesel having a God complex and all. But it never really worked out. So, let’s pretend that it did come together, and appears here instead of this entry, and that it was really entertaining. Or, you can write your own non-lame version. Thanks!

Other recent aborted blog entry: Other Things Saddam Hussein Refuses To Do Besides Go Back To His Own Trial (i.e. put the toilet seat down, replace the paper towel roll after using the last sheet, use deoderant, feed the dog, etc.).

Sometimes you just gotta know when to fold ‘em.

Latre.

Reminds me of back when I was writing jokes for a radio syndicator. I had an idea for a movie ad parody: “Being Erin Brokovich”, a story about a magic door that lets people be inside Julia Roberts for 15 minutes… it was deemed too edgy for drivetime, along with most of the rest of my stuff.

For ideas along the lines of your Saddam bit, you should check out the weekly Top 10 List Contest on the Letterman site – they hand out prizes like mousepads, coffee mugs and t-shirts for winning entries based on each week’s given topic. I’ve won 6 times – not bad until you realize I’ve been trying, on and off, for about 6 years…

15 minutes? There are drugs to help with that.

Well, my stuff’s not so much edgy as it is lame, but I appreciate the thought.

Oh, you wanted lame? I also tossed in an idea to parody the theme song for the James Bond movie “The World is Not Enough”, but with an environmental theme (it being the time of the Kyoto Treaty negotation) which changed it into “The World is Hot Enough”…

THAT was right up their alley, but since the movie had come out 2-3 months before, it was deemed not timely enough.

Did I mention, the syndicator folded after about 8 months? Not before I soaked them for well over a grand though…
