Into The Wild

Sunset Over The Best View Of DenverToday was an SCFD Free Day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, so the gf and I hung out there for a little while near the end of the day. There’s a lounge on the second floor that boasts the “Best View Of Denver”. (Or is it the “Best View In Denver”? I forget.). I snapped some pix, but with the low light at the end of the day, they didn’t come out the best. Still, this gives you an idea of the majesty of the Denver skyline against the mountains with the sun just set behind them. I also love the lake and boathouse in front. And those black spots on the lawn are hundreds of geese, which you can see a little better in the full size original photo on Flickr. They are also kind of blocked because of the reflections in the window.

We choose to go to the museum today instead of watching the Broncos game, and that turned out to be a very good decision. I see they lost to Oakland 34-20. Urgh. I don’t even want to know what happened. But anyway, the museum was fun. We love those animal dioramas! We’ll be going back real soon so that we can spend more time and take everything in.

Musky OxesJogged Today: No. It was soooo hard to lumber out of bed this morning. All I wanted to do was cuddle up under the covers and not think about the coldness of the outside world. But I had to go out in search of food for the herd (well, herd of 2 anyway), avoiding the neighborhood wolves who smile at me but whom I know really just want nothing more than to bring me down and feast on my carcass and steal my Prius. Ha, foolish mortals! I stomp on you with my giant hooves and gore you with my curvy head bone thingees. My awesomeness will not be denied.

Today’s Weight: 162.8 lbs
Lunch Yesterday: Smoke Stack sandwich from Safeway
Pet Peeve of the Day: Restaurants that aren’t open on Sundays. Also, restaurants where the light is so low, I can’t read the menu even with my reading glasses.

Latre.

Weird, you and I both wrote about the Denver skyline on the same day.

I never go to the zoo or the museum on free day. It’s worth the cost not to be in the middle of a few thousand children crying that they are tired.

That’s why you need to go near the end of the day. All the kids are tired and gone. And there’s parking!

I was a night security guard at the zoo briefly in the early 90s. The gangs would hold target practice in City Park at around 2:am sharp every day, or at least I hoped that’s what they were shooting at.

They never came near the zoo but I’ve never been able to view the park as a relaxing place since. Though I have been to the zoo once or twice as a visitor – it’s a lot different in daylight!
